2. What Wildora Journey is
Wildora Journey is a community map for quiet outdoor places. It is not an emergency service, navigation system, or substitute for local guidance.
3. Data we collect
Account: when you register, we collect your email address. Your password is handled by our servers and is not stored on your device in plain text. Location: when you grant permission, we use precise GPS for map centering, discovery, and proximity checks. Approximate region: when GPS is unavailable, we may infer your country from your IP address using third-party services (ipapi.co and ip-api.com). Only the country code is used to warm up the map region. Content you submit: review text and photos you choose to share; pinned and discovered location state stored on your device and synced to our servers when you are logged in. Device and app identifiers: an anonymous installation ID for usage sessions and your platform type (e.g. Android or iOS). Usage data: session events such as locations viewed and review funnel steps (started, completed, or abandoned) sent to our servers.
4. How we use data
We use your data to provide the service, sync your account content, show relevant map regions, and improve the product.
5. Legal bases (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data to perform our contract with you (providing the app), based on our legitimate interests in product improvement and safety, and based on your consent where required for optional permissions such as location access and photo uploads.
6. Sharing
We share data with map tile providers (OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap), IP geolocation providers, and our hosting and backend infrastructure. We do not sell your personal data.
7. Retention
We keep account data while your account is active. Usage session events are retained according to our server retention policy. Local map region hints are cached on your device for up to seven days.
8. Your choices
You can revoke location or photo permissions in your device settings, log out of your account, or request account deletion by emailing contact@wildorajourney.com.
9. Security
Authentication tokens are stored in secure storage on your device. Communication with our API uses HTTPS.
10. Children
Wildora Journey is not directed at children under 16.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect.
